Types of Standard Belts Weaves
The belts most often used for diverse application across the entire span of industries are the various weaves of metal mesh belts described below:
Double Balanced Belting consisting of Ipairs of interlaced right and left handed spirals, is suitable for ambient medium and high-temperature applications.
Balanced Belting is an economical weave with high tensil strength and minimal tendency to creep to either side of the drive pully. These features make the balanced belt a most suitable belt for many applications.
Compound Balanced Belting has right and left spirals fitted closely together for a smooth, dense weave, making it excellent for conveying very fine or small products as well as unstable or top-heavy items. The L K3 baking band is a compound balanced belt which is used extensively in baking cookies, crackers, and snack foods.
Duplex Belting is a close mesh with a smooth carrying surface for carrying small parts
or parts that would be marked by a more open mesh. Woven of pairs of spirals, each pair turned into the preceding pair and reinforced with a rod through the hinging point. Duplex belting has high strength.
Gratex Belting is similar to balanced belting except that the spirals are more closely wound with a sraigth rod connector produces a stronger semi-closed mesh idel for carrying small parts and heavy loads. The most widely used type of conveyor belt is the friction driven woven wire belt. It is driven entirely by frictional contect between the belt surface and the drive roll surface. These belts offer the most favorable combination of strength, cost, durability and maintenance.
