Oil & gases are commonly used as fuel in industrial & domestic boilers, hot air generators & cooking ranges. Lighting of the burners is achieved by the spark generated between a pair of insulated electrodes (5mm gap), placed adjacent to the burners & connected to a high voltage (10 Kv), low current (25Ma) power supply. In some burners, a single electrode is used by grounding the current through the metal framework.
NTB uses a special corrosion & spark-erosion-resistant alloy which is suitable for 1400°C continuous-duty operating temperatures & outlasts the traditional high nickel electrodes rated at 1200°C. NTB AL 95 Alumina Insulators provide excellent mechanical & dielectric strengths. This allows for designs with substantial clamping arrangements & reduced risk of accidental breakage in handling, storage & usage.
NTB AGNI Clamped Insulator Igniters are designed for mounting in a fixed clamp, split collar, cast electrode housing etc. with grub screws tightened directly against the insulators. In other designs, Igniters are mounted on a female threaded boss on the burner casing, with the electrode protruding into the casing.
