The AV Max Expo 2008 which was organised at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi turned out to be a damp squib, largely because of the ongoing Book Fair at the same venue which stole the show. The exhibition was orgainsed by Infomedia India Limited from February 2 to 4, 2008.
The AV Max Expo, which showcased audio video products, was participated by a large number of electronic consumer goods companies including Philips, ONKYO, Logitech, Panasonic, Seventymm, Sharp and others.
The show displayed AV Technology, latest products, stereo systems, CD players, various types of Audio/video products and home-theatres.
The show, apart from being the venue for showcasing latest innovative products, also proved to be a good platform for interaction to host of dealers and companies launching new products.
The exhibition also had Demo rooms, silent display zones that helped in ensuring ease of traffic movement and ample scope to consumers to spend quality time in various zones. There was also Car Demos for the audiophiles who are always on the move.
Talking about the show, participants showed mixed reaction about the facilities provided by the organiser and about the success of the show. Sanjeev Arora of ONKYO didn't seem very happy with the response he got from the show. "On the first day we received inadequate response form the clients and people", he said.
Visibly unhappy over the show, Arora said the organiser had not done enough to make the show popular among masses as there were no advertisement and awareness about the show. He informed that there were only 15 to 20% of the expected visitors on the first day and concluded with optimism that it might improve during the remaining days.
Ravi from Alpha Radios said that the response was not as hearty as he had expected. But unlike Ravi, Vijendar S Negi of PRO FX seemed satisfied and optimistic about the show. He said, "The response was slow as it was the first day and we hope the remaining two days would see brisk participation from businessmen and prospective buyers."
Sanjeev Ratra, director of SAVI, had altogether different but realistic explanation to the poor response to the show, he said, "All the people who are here is because of the Book Fair only," he added, "Do you think the people who are coming have the ability to buy a product worth Rs 60,000?"
