Sunday recorded record crowd at the Elecrama venue. Visitors thronged the stalls put up by small and big players of the electrical, electronics and power industries.
The organizers as a whole seemed content to see this large turnout of visitors. When it comes to organizing a colossal event of this magnitude, which has representation from 26 countries, IEEMA has certainly written a success story for itself.
S. C. Bhargava, President of IEEMA, in an exclusive interview with Thomex expressed his excitement at the tremendous response this event has amassed in just three days time. “Still two more days to go, it won’t be incorrect to say this event has served its purpose,” Bhargava said. He also said that the event has also been successful from the suppliers’ point of view.
Referring to the increasing number of exhibitors over the years, Bhargava said, “If the space problem could have been solved than this event could have witnessed 50% increase in the number of exhibitors.” He further added, “It has been a bitter experience not to be able to accommodate a wider spectrum of exhibitors who had lined up for this mega event.”
Bhargava said, “To facilitate the participation of more international players in this edition of Elecrama, IEEMA has tie-ups with travel agents and hotels to offer trouble-free accessibility to India and thus to Elecrama. For all-round connectivity and easy interface, IEEMA has introduced Wi-Fi in this edition of Elecrama.
“The main concept behind offering a structure and space for the small scale industries (SSI) is to offer a platform where the SSI could learn and at the same time inculcate the needs and necessities to grow, because they hold the key to India’s success,” Bhargava said. He also said that IEEMA to get feedbacks from the general visitors and the exhibitors has outsourced the survey work to a third party, which will frame well-structured feedbacks.
The Student’s Pavilion, a new concept of IEEMA, includes 42 projects from various institutes. To sustain the talent pool in this sector a registration counter has been set in the pavilion for extensive database. “This information could be used by wide consortium of companies to look out for suitable technocrats,” Bhargava added.
An award ceremony was organized by IEEMA, on the evening of the second day, for honouring Overall Best Products, Best Product by Indian Exhibitors, Best Product by Small Scale Sector, and Certificate of Appreciation.
The Overall Best Product went to Easun Group for their reliable and well-designed product -- Maintenance Free Dehydrating Breather. Second in the line was Crompton Greaves Ltd. which won the Best Indian Product for its sleek, technically sound and efficient creation -- Dream Transformer. Ashlok Safe Earthing Electrode Ltd. bagged the Best Product by Small Scale Sector.
Certificate of Appreciation was given to Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd., Crompton Greaves Ltd. and Kalki Communication Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
Avinash Barve, Executive Organizer (IEEMA) said, “Since the Overall Best Product has consecutively gone to foreign companies in the recent years, IEEMA decided to introduce an award for the Indian exhibitors as well. This is how the Best Indian Product category came into existence.”
Barve said entries for the awards were judged by eminent personalities like V. Ramakrishnan (Member of Central Electricity Authority), M. Jha (Executive Director - NTPC), R. P. Sasmal (Executive Director, Distribution - Powergrid) and A. K. Tripathi (Chief of Central Power Research Institute).
