The world's biggest trade show in the power sector - Elecrama 2008 concluded with the usual fanfare here in Mumbai on January 22. The show which witnessed a participation of more than 75,000 visitors included 45,000 delegates from the B2B industry.

Organised by the IEEMA, the show set another milestone in terms of area of its operation, exhibitors, visitors, infrastructure and above all the products put on display at the show.

The show which was inaugurated by RW Patil, Minister of Power, Government of Maharashtra had distinguished speakers including Vimal Mahendru (Chairman IEEMA), RV Shahi, (Secretary, Union Ministry of Power), SC Bhargava (President IEEMA), and M Venketaraman (Vice President IEEMA).

Like on the earlier occasions, the show successfully showcased electrical and electronic components both from India and abroad. Speaking on the occasion, Vimal Mahendru, Chairman IEEMA, expressed his satisfaction over huge participation which witnessed a 30% increase from the previous year.

This year, the show included a new concept, the Student's Pavilion which included 42 projects from various institutes around India. The pavilion also worked as a platform for India's budding technocrats who could enrol themselves in the IEEMA database. The data is expected to be used by a wide consortium of companies who could employ technocrats as per their requirements.

The event, to encourage and promote talent among Indian students, also organised an award ceremony for the students who participated in the show. It also honoured Overall Best Products, Best Product by Indian Exhibitors, Best Product by Small Scale Sector and distributed Certificate of Appreciation to the participants.

The show had representation from 26 countries including Australia China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Taiwan and countries from Latin & North America, Africa, and Middle East.

This time around the event accommodated around 600 stalls in an area spanning around 50,000 square metres. Altogether around 1,013 exhibitors showcased their products and services at this trade show.

During the inauguration ceremony, the IEEMA member directory and IEEMA exhibitor directory were also released by the chief guests, RW Patil and RV Shahi, respectively.
