India Electricity 2007, organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Ministry of Power Government of India was inaugurated at Pragati Maidan from the September 20 to 22, 2007. Being one of the biggest exhibitions for the power sector, it witnessed some of the big players of the industry showcasing their technology and product prowess. The show turned out to be a major success as it received good response from the masses as well as the business class.
The show presented a wide range of products which not only attempted to employ the latest technological advances for better efficiency but also enhanced the reliability of the installation. Speaking on the topic, Ravinder Tekchandani of BHEL highlighted the various technological feats achieved by the company.
BHEL’s main product, the 500 MW Turbine generators, displayed in a miniature form, attracted a lot of attention from the visitors. Another exhibit that caught the fancy of the audience was of the IBM. Their latest offering of supplying broadband connection through the power lines was a huge hit among all. Speaking about this product Nitin Mathur of IBM said that the product was recently developed and would be employed on experimental basis soon. He also said that if it catches up with the service providers, the next major leap in IT is not very far away.
The show also witnessed a whole range of energy management system, which was a major source of attraction among the visitors. KLG providing IT solution for power and mechanical sector showcased products which offered to take care of online and offline energy and power management. Elaborating on the products, Pankaj Motawani of KLG informed that the product was capable of managing the power requirements of any organisation on a real time basis. Using technological innovation from IBM and OTI, these products enabled the user to control their equipment online.
There were diverse opinions, both from the participants and the visitors, about the success of the show. But majority of exhibitors considered the event to be well organised with befitting display and good business. Others considered it to be an excellent platform for displaying entire range of products. Some of the exhibitors were even able to gather numerous business proposals. Overall, the event seemed to be well received, both by the audience and the exhibitors.
