GenNext floods the show

The Mobile Asia Expo 2008 was organised by Indian Cellular Association (ICA) from February 29th to March 3, 2008 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Sheila Dikshit Chief Minister of Delhi. The show witnessed huge response from youth who came in large number to see the sleek and trendy gizmos put on show.

The Mobile Asia 2008 showcased products from vast Telecom companies and handset manufacturers, viz. Airtel, i-mate, Intex, LG, Molife, Motorola, Nokia, Radical Software, Samsung, SanDisk, Sony Ericsson, Vodafone, Mobile Shop and many others.

The theme of the expo was GenNext which targeted the younger generation. The products were meant to change the way we look at communication; not just today, but in the years to come.

Mobile Asia 2008 provided platform to trade, interact and communicate with GenNext.

To capture the attention of visitors, few exhibitors organised events like Dance, Astrology, Quiz, Magical Shows, etc.
 
K. Shriram, DGM Marketing, Airtel, was satisfied with the efforts of ICA. He said, "We received huge response from the youth and middle aged visitors. There were around 2000 enquiries in a single day.”

Ashish Mahrotra, Mktg. Manager, Tata Indicom was content from the positive response they received from the visitors. ‘‘The inquiries that we were able to pull in at this show was wonderful, the event served its purpose”, Mahrotra said.

Sony Ericsson, one of the leading mobile entertainment companies, launched its new premium brand – XPERIA X1 at the Expo. “Our vision for the XPERIA X1 is to deliver a seamless blend of mobile Web communication and multimedia entertainment within a distinctive design’’, Sudhin Mathur, GM, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications said.

Mathur added, ‘‘XPERIA is our promise to think foremost of user experience and to deliver the premium experience – anytime, anywhere and with anyone.”

LG showcased its future line-up of mobile phones, namely LG Viewty. According to Anil Arora, Business Group Head, GSM, LG Electronics India, “Our future line-up of GSM phones with “intuitive intelligence” based technology not only meets, but exceeds our customers’ needs.”

Vodafone displayed a Formula 1 race car in the event. Faraz, Customer Representative Executive said, ‘‘Vodafone is one of the promoters of Formula 1 race in India and we are using this platform to connect to audiences”.
