New Delhi, Sep 13: Smart Cards Expo, organized by Electronics Today, was inaugurated here on Thursday at Pragati Maidan with great fanfare and gaiety. A pioneer in Electronics exhibitions in India, the Expo, which will last till September 15, received an overwhelming response, both from the public and the participants. A well-informed audience making their way to the Expo was enough to tell the story how Indians were welcoming new technology coming their way.
The visitors comprised mainly from the private and public sector. A large number of defence personnel were also seen taking a keen interest in the sophisticated line of Access Control System, Biometric, Time and Attendance System, Vehicle tracking system to name a few.
An elaborate and remarkable display of various company products and technological information dazzled the visitors. It also pointed to the fact that the time has come to give security of work place its due importance.
The exhibitor had the latest technology backing their chain of product line. Apart from the many indigenously built products from the Indian elite manufacturers, there were also a lot of International manufacturers making their present felt. The foreign companies surely felt the pulse of the Indian market.
The Expo was a major draw for those interested in time and attendance system for maintaining an accurate payroll for employees and access control system with customised software. The biometric system that covered the fingerprint technology was another hit as curious visitors thronged the stalls. The Expo was largely attended by users ranging from banks, IT industries, hospitals, hotels, oil and gas industry, defence, etc.
The particular artefact that wrapped peoples attention was the Vehicle Tracking System from an Indian manufacturer. The system could be used to track vehicle on desktop using Google Earth and in web browser using Google map. The outstanding feature of the product was that the GPS and GSM modules and antenna were in-built in the tracking unit. With this unit you could track a vehicle using web enabled mobile phones. The Smart Card Expo, as a whole, was meant for those who thought the time has come to keep a pace with technology.
